It was a pleasure to join our West Philly neighbors, community groups, volunteers and other local vendors for today’s Unity in the Community Block Party on Market Street between 60th and 61st Streets!
The Unity in the Community block party brought together numerous local businesses, organizations and elected officials for a daylong event along 60th and Market Streets to provide resources for local neighbors, highlight the needs of the area to the general public, and offer safe space to organize and celebrate the West Philadelphia community.
It was a day full of joy and memories for all who were in attendance, including the numerous Horizon House staff members who volunteered their time to hand our information on our resources, provide intel on available job opportunities, make connections with other local organizations and to greet our West Philly neighbors
Many of our great team members volunteered their time to be on site to give information on the resources we provide and even hand out pretzels and a few giveaways.
Jeff Wilush, our President and CEO, was even featured in a news clip on Philadelphia’s FOX29 about the event. You can watch that by clicking here.
Philadelphia’s NBC10 also had a news crew on site for a story on the block party, which you can watch by clicking here.
A big thank you goes out to PA State Representative Amen Brown, PA State Senator Vincent Hughes, PA State Representative Morgan Cephas, Philadelphia City Councilmember Curtis Jones, Jr., ACHIEVEability and Home Health Care Plus for being great co-hosts and helping to make a difference in the community.
