Over the weekend we participated in two more Health Promoter Programs facilitated through our partnership with Saint Joseph’s University and Penn Medicine – Abramson Cancer Center. On Saturday we served the Kensington neighborhood and on Sunday we served the Cobb’s Creek section of West Philly. The Health Promotor Programs have been a series of community outreach events offered to populations in need across Philadelphia. Individuals that attended these events have received free health screenings that included a height/weight check-in, a test of basic vitals, a cancer screening, resources for women and nursing mothers, free eye glasses, and several other specialized services. Horizon House served as the mental health resource station and offered free mental health screenings to those that were interested. This truly has been a remarkable initiative to be a part of as we’ve had the pleasure to meet countless individuals across numerous communities throughout Philadelphia. It has been a privilege helping those in need by connecting them with Horizon House and other mental health resources.
