Earlier this month, Linda Washington-Brown, Horizon House’s Chief Services Officer for Developmental Services, provided testimony in front of the Human Services Committee’s meeting in Harrisburg on The Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs’ proposal for Performance-Based Contracting Waivers. Linda shared her testimony and answered questions about this new proposal advocating for better pay for providers who support adults with disability. Great job representing our Agency, Linda!

Saint Joseph’s Health Clinic at Guatemalan Consulate
It was a pleasure to again join our friends from Saint Joseph’s University for another mobile health clinic this past weekend. We were on site at the Guatemalan Consulate in Philadelphia, providing mental health screenings for those in attendance. Thanks to all who came out. ACHIEVEability Impact Day

We recently shared with you an incredibly generous donation made by Starbucks‘ Center City Philadelphia locations of art supplies, snacks and Starbucks items to women Horizon House serves. These items have been distributed to participants, who are putting them to good use! We are beyond grateful for our amazing friends at the Center City Philadelphia Starbucks locations, who came together as a team to donate art supplies, snacks and Starbucks items to our Homeless Services participants. These donated bags will be given out to participants this week. Hoops For Help
Last week, members of our awesome staff from Horizon House Delaware came together and formed a team for the annual Hoops for Help tournament at Chase Fieldhouse, home of the Delaware Blue Coats, the G-League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers. The event brought people and organizations across Delaware together for a fun day of basketball, all in the name of supporting recovery culture throughout the state. Recovery Cafe in West Philly
We had the privilege to attend the very first Recovery Café facilitated through the Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services in West Philly. Local behavioral and mental health agencies from around the area gathered at Lucien E. Blackwell Library to share information on resources available to those seeking help. We were happy to hear stories of recovery and to share with the community what Horizon House is all about. There were also refreshments such as Wawa coffee, drinks, and snacks provided to give the gathering more of a “café” feel! Partnering with St. Joseph’s and Penn Medicine
It was a pleasure to join our partners from Saint Joseph’s University and Penn Medicine Cancer for a mobile health clinic this past weekend at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in South Philly. Local residents received essential health services, including mental health screenings provided by our Horizon House professionals. This event was part of a new Horizon House partnership that we are extremely excited about.
