Community-Integrated Employment
The program’s goal is to provide vocational supports to individuals with intellectual disabilities in order for them to obtain and retain meaningful employment in the public and private sector. The program’s capacity is 12 participants.
Services provided include:
- job-coaching,
- supervision,
- career development,
- transportation training,
- communication with team members,
- assessments,
- training in obtaining and maintaining employment, and
- follow-up supports.
Eligibility: Individuals must have a diagnosis of an intellectual disability prior to the age of 22 years old and be receiving residential services from Horizon House or another provider.

Education Plus
The program’s goal is to support individuals attending either college or a certificate program to complete their course work leading to employment in their area of study. The program’s capacity is 50 participants.
Services provided include:
- educational supports, including assistance with time management, course selection, campus life, utilization of campus resources, and peer support groups,
- linkage to mental health and other services,
- services provided by Educational Specialists in the community (mainly on college campuses,)
- linkage to Horizon House’s Supported Employment Program, and
- assistance with applying for financial aid.
Eligibility:
• Adults, 18+
• individuals must be a resident of Philadelphia,
• have passed all placement exams,
• been accepted into a degree or certificate program, and
• have a documented mental illness or learning disability.

Employment Plus
The program’s goal is to assist young adults with overcoming multiple challenges in order to obtain employment. The program’s capacity is 20 participants.
Services provided include:
- an assessment of academic skills, work skills, and social skills;
- career counseling;
- life skills groups;
- job readiness skills,
- three-month internships with job coaching; and
- assistance in finding and keeping a job.
Eligibility:
• 18-25 years of age
• Philadelphia resident,
• have a documented psychiatric diagnosis and/or learning disability, substance abuse, or other barriers, and be approved by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Supported Employment Services (SES)
The program’s goal is to identify, obtain, and help individuals keep a job in competitive employment with individualized supports without time limits. The program’s capacity is 100 participants.
Services provided include:
• assessment,
• career counseling,
• job development,
• individual and group training in obtaining and maintaining employment,
• job placement,
• one-on-one job coaching on a limited basis,
• follow-up supports,
• transportation training,
• service-coordination with other service providers,
• provides supported employment services through the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR,) which can include an evaluation and job coaching contract under OVR sponsorship.
Eligibility: Individuals must be a Philadelphia resident, 18 years of age or older, and have barriers to employment in order to participate with the program.

Training Program
The program’s goal is to provide a diagnostic assessment leading to limited, focused training, and competitive employment located at the Environmental Protection Agency. The capacity is 4.
Services provided include:
- vocational evaluation;
- career counseling;
- limited vocational skill training in mail services and supply clerk;
- job-readiness classes, including job-seeking skills, resume writing, interviewing skills, assistance in locating a job, and follow-up services with no time limits.
Eligibility:
• Individuals must have a desire and commitment to work a minimum of 20-hours per week in the community.
• be free from drugs and alcohol for 3 months prior to starting the program,
• have been treated by a psychiatrist within the past year, or
• have a disability approved by the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation or the Bureau of Blind & Visual Services, and
• can physically meet the demands of the job,
• have a high school diploma,
• can pass a criminal background check
