Employment Services
Working with Employers
We encourage individuals to conduct job searches independently using our extensive resource room. At the same time, we actively identify and cultivate potential employers whom we feel can provide the right opportunities that match what our job seekers are looking for. We offer employers two benefits: one, a qualified applicant whose challenges are known to us and for which they receive appropriate supports; and two, we are available to work with both employer and employee to problem-solve issues that occur on the job site. Supports are somewhat dependent on the individual’s decision to disclose their disability status to their employer. As a general rule, we are available to both employer and employee, and provide these supports on a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the job.
Training
Training is the first step toward helping prepare individuals with challenges obtain the skills and knowledge essential for success at work. Currently, training is located at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Philadelphia. The EPA completes an assessment for everyone in the training program to assess general worker skills and the potential for learning. Upon successful completion of the training program, with our assistance, individuals will obtain competitive employment in the community.

Supported Employment Services
Supported Employment Services are designed to assist adults with mental health issues and/or intellectual disabilities in selecting a career path and in obtaining and keeping a job in competitive employment. Each person works individually with an Employment Specialist who assists with their job search, resume preparation, successful job interview completion, and problem-solving around issues that may occur at the job site. Once the individual is employed, we work along with both the individual and the employer to assist in retaining the job.

Education Services
Supported Education
Our Education Plus program for adults with mental health challenges and significant learning disabilities provides the necessary supports for students to earn a post-secondary education certificate or degree. We support their efforts in attending school, ensuring graduation, and obtaining employment. The program is mobile, serving all schools in the Philadelphia region. Meetings with students occur where it is most convenient, typically on their college campus.
Our educational specialists meet individually with each student to discuss issues including course selection, financial aid applications, living accommodations, time management, and coping with the stresses of college life while managing a disability. Individuals may also qualify for support from the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
