Horizon House’s homeless service programs are designed to assist homeless individuals (or families) with diagnoses of mental illness and/or substance abuse to attain recovery. Recovery can include gaining a sense of meaning to life, a positive self-image, being able to form meaningful relationships and recognition of the gifts and lessons learned through the recovery struggle.
People who use Horizon House’s homeless services are encouraged to work on goals that enable them to return to productive lives in the community. Staff forms a partnership with the individuals to help them to obtain treatment and rehabilitation services to address their behavioral health issues, to move into stable housing and to become self-sufficient either through employment or establishing eligibility for benefits. Horizon House homeless services programs are located in Philadelphia and Delaware counties.
